The park itself sits at 550 Park Center Drive, right in the heart of Santee's Town Center area, adjacent to the Cameron Family YMCA and Sportsplex USA. If you're not packing a picnic, you don't have to plan far ahead. Food trucks often line the park perimeter during concert nights, and the Town Center area has options like Board & Brew, a five-minute walk away, plus The Coffee Corner and Tsunami Modern Cuisine for sushi and Asian fusion. This is a walk-up-with-a-blanket kind of night, and it has been for over four decades.

The Season's Final Thursday Concert

If you've been meaning to catch one before the season ends, the window is short. The season's final concert is August 13.

On August 6, the city hosted rockabilly country music with The Sea Monks at Town Center Community Park East from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. That night wasn't a standard Thursday. It was billed as a Salutes to Service concert, and the City of Santee and the San Diego Sheriff's Office teamed up to bring the Salutes to Service Concert, with National Night Out taking place simultaneously. That paired two civic traditions in one evening.

Then on August 13, the season closes with 80's hits from BETAMAXX at Town Center Community Park East from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. This isn't a random pick for a finale. BETAMAXX is a known quantity on the San Diego cover band circuit, and 80s nights always pack the park, making it the season closer. If you've never gone before, this is the one to catch, because after August 13 the free Thursday series doesn't pick back up until next June.

Ten Minutes Away, a Different Set of Rules

Here's where it gets confusing if you assume "Santee summer concerts" means one thing. Over at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, a separate deck concert series has been running alongside the city's Thursday shows all summer, and it keeps going well past August 13.

Concerts are every Saturday in May, and then every Friday and Saturday from June through September, with Topwater Grill open for food and drinks, a $7 parking fee, and all concerts running from 5 to 7 PM. The fee can be applied to a restaurant bill of $20 or more. If you plan to eat at Topwater Grill, factor the minimum spend into your plans; otherwise, include the fee in your visit budget.

The lineup extends past the city's finale too. There's a show at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, billed as an evening of great music and fantastic food on deck. So if BETAMAXX on August 13 feels like the end of summer, it isn't, at least not at the lake. That series carries on into September.

Why the Two Don't Compete
